Vibes Promotion with DrmZ
For the first show of the new year we go back to the early 90s when hip hop and dancehall were much closer together.
One producer who defined what we call mash ups now is Bobby Konders with his label Massive B.
He released numerous dancehall artists like Burro Banton, Mad Lion, Yankee B or Louie Rankin on hip hop beats and did remixes.
Scince I started deejaying hip hop before I got interested in reggae and dancehall: his productions were my first contact to modern jamaican music.
We called it ragga back then 😉
And off course dancehall artists like Super Cat, Junior Reid and Barrington Levy were prominently featured by rap artists like Wu Tang, The Game, Mobb Deep, Smiff’N’Wessun, Kriss Kross, Special Ed, Poor Righteous Teachers or Guru’s Jazzmatazz.
